New year, here we come…

I was born a bit messy, and I liked to be spontaneous and daydream when I was younger.

After I had a family, I became a ‘stay-at-home executive.’ How I felt about my own success depended on well-planned days, an organized house, and, honestly, the well-being and success of my family.

Over these past 23 years, my husband and three kids have grown and achieved amazing things. I am truly so proud of all of them, and I am grateful that we were in a position where I could always be there to help.

To be honest, it didn’t feel great the whole time. Trying to be on top of everything with little chance to daydream or to have meaningful rest went against the nature of who I am.

It took me seventeen years to get an art degree. I only took classes when they fit into everyone else’s schedule.

Thankfully, art is something that I kept choosing to do for myself. When I wasn’t doing it, I wished that I was. Looking back, it was the only thing I was doing that was just for me.

I can be messy, spontaneous, and daydream when I am making art.  It reminds me how good it feels to be me!

This year, take up what makes you light up! Happy 2024!
